Classical Singer and Maestro Ustad Rashid Khan Passes Away

Some songs are not just music but an emotion. Music is the best way to express someone’s feelings and due to that, we worship music and musicians. “Aaoge Jab Tum” is one such song that we love to listen to again and again. However,  from today onwards whenever we listen to this song, we will get sad for sure. As the singer of this melodious song is no more between us. We are feeling extremely painful to share the passing news of the legendary singer, Ustad Rashid Khan. The 55-year-old Hindi classical singer is no more between us and left the music world in deep sorrow. 

Maestro Ustad Rashid Khan took his last breath on Tuesday, 9th Jan 2024. At the time of passing, he was 55 years old. This news is quite unfortunate to hear and many of his fans and followers are in deep shock. Initially, several of his followers assumed this news to be fake and called it a fake death rumour. But after reading his passing news on numerous channels they were forced to believe it. Most of his fans are rushing to know the cause of his unfortunate death. According to multiple reports, the music icon was fighting prostate cancer. At the time of passing, he was admitted to a famous Kolkata-based hospital and kept under ventilation. 

The Legendary Classical Singer Gets Relief From Cancer 

The reports state that he started facing numerous health issues after a cerebral attack last month. Due to this attack, he started to develop serious respiratory problems. Because of his deteriorating condition, he was admitted to the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, however, his health became worse and he was transferred to another hospital in his native place. Before his official passing news, a closed source had earlier informed that the condition of the singer was “very critical” and he was on oxygen support. He finally gets to rest in peace after the four years of struggle with cancer.  

Although his fans are sad about his unfortunate death news, they are sharing their condolences and paying tribute on social media. He left behind his wife, a daughter and two sons. His death news has been officially confirmed by an official of the private hospital. As per the official, “We tried our best to save his life but unfortunately, we failed. He left us at around 03:45 PM”. Ever since his unfortunate death news has surfaced, and many renowned personalities have been paying tribute to him. President of India, Droupadi Murmu expressed her sorrow on his death.

The President of India wrote, “It is extremely painful to hear the unfortunate death of the eminent Hindustani classical music vocalist Ustad Rashid Khan. A Padma Bhushan awardee, Ustad Rashid Khan showcased immense versatility by exploring fusion and performing jugalbandis. He leaves behind a rich legacy in the field of classical music. I extend my deep condolences to his loved ones and admirers.”

The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee also paid her tribute and stated that she is saddened after hearing about the unfortunate passing of a classic music singer. She states that it is hard to believe that Ustad Rashid Khan is no more between us and the void he is leaving is hard to fill. As per the CM of West Bengal, the body of the legendary musician is kept at a mortuary and it will be taken to Rabindra Sadan on Wednesday, 10th Jan 2024. 

Who Was Rashid Khan?

The late Padma Bhushan awardee has a musical background. He was the great-grandson of vocalist Inayat Hussain Khan, an Indian classical singer. Ustad Rashid Khan had a deep connection with a famous Hindustani music tradition “Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana ”. In 1978, he publicly performed for the first time at the young age of 11.  It is hard to fill his place and the contribution he has given to classical music is hard to forget and will be immortal. May God give rest to his soul.
