The Olympics is considered the mega-sports event and to bag the medal is the dream of every athlete. This year the mega sports event is taking place in Paris and the preparation of the event has already started in the country. In the latest development, the Olympic flame is ready to arrive in the capital of the country on Wednesday, 8 April 2024. More than 150,000 people will accumulate in the French port of Marseille to witness the first major test of the upcoming Paris sports event. The transfer of the flame onshore from a 19th-century tall ship will mark the beginning of a 12,000-kilometre torch relay across mainland France and the far-flung overseas territories of the country. 

The organisers of the event are pretty excited to begin the process of the upcoming event and hope the first public spectacle will help to build and increase the excitement. In a recent interview with the media outlet, Tony Estanguet said “It’s something we’ve been waiting for a very long time. It’s here. One hundred years after the last Games, the Games are coming home.” 

The 2024 Summer Olympic Games are returning to Paris as the host country of the event after 25 years. The past events were held in 1900 and then in 1924. It is expected that approximately 300,000 spectators are expected to watch the opening ceremonies that will begin on Friday, 26 July 2024. Apart from that, the sports competition calendar of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 has been issued by the Organising Committee. In the upcoming Olympics 2024, 32 sports will be there and 329 events spread across 18 days of competition from Friday, 26 July to Sunday, 11 August 2024. 

The previous two editions of the Olympics took place under the shade of COVID-19, with few fans who were allowed to attend, the Paris Olympics are expected to feature full stadiums and a lavish opening ceremony along the Seine River. Speaking of the first competitions of the Olympic Games 2024 will be group-stage matches in men’s soccer and rugby on Wednesday, 24 July 2024. The first men’s soccer game will commence at 03:00 PM local time. Moreover, the Games formally start at the opening ceremony, which will take place on 26 July 2024.

July 30, Tuesday: Women’s gymnastics (team final)

August 1, Thursday: Women’s gymnastics (individual all-around final)

August 3, Saturday: Women’s swimming (800-meter freestyle); Women’s track and field (100-meter final)

August 4, Sunday: Men’s track and field (100-meter final)

August 10, Saturday: Men’s basketball (gold-medal game): Women’s soccer (gold-medal game)

August 11, Sunday: Women’s basketball (gold-medal game)

Where To Watch The Olympic Games Paris 2024?

Just like the previous editions of the mega event, the 33rd edition of the Summer Olympics will be telecasted on NBC and its affiliated channels. Apart from that, Viacom18 Media Private Limited has the exclusive media rights to telecast the upcoming Olympic Games 2024 in India. It will be available to watch on Sports 18 and the live streaming of it will be available to watch on Jio Cinema. 

In the previous edition of the Olympic Games held in Tokyo, India bagged one gold, two silver and 4 bronze medals and it will be intriguing to watch how many medals will come into the bag of Indian athletes this year. The expectations of Indian spectators are pretty high from Neeraj Chopra, Aditi Ashok, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy- Chirag Shetty, Nikhat Zareen, Vinesh Phogat, PV Sindhu, Sift Kaur Samra among others.
