It seems like we will soon hit the 3rd place on the list of largest economies in the world.  At present, we are standing in the 5th position but the latest reports are pointing out that we will soon beat the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Japan and maybe Germany. According to multiple reports, in the history of the Indian economy, the nation achieved a milestone on Sunday, 19th November 2023. We know that this achievement can’t lessen the pain of Indian cricket fans but at least we can celebrate the achievement of the Indian economy. Scroll down to learn more about it.

However, no official words have been out. Neither the National Statistical Office nor the finance ministry have made any announcement regarding it. The reports claim that the milestone was hailed by billionaire and Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and 2 union ministers. An apocryphal screengrab from the live tracking GDP feed from across the globe based on International Monetary Fund data has been posted online and netizens are deliberately sharing it and making it more and more viral.

Not only netizens, but several senior BJP leaders have shared this post. After finding this post, the social media is flooded with congratulatory messages and people are celebrating the milestone achieved by the Indian economy. Adani  congratulated through X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, “Congratulations, India. Another 2 years to go before our nation holds the 3rd position and to become the third largest nation in terms of Global GDP by overtaking the position of Japan who is currently at $4.4 trillion and Germany who is at $4.3 trillion. The Tricolour surge continues! Jai Hind.”

Gajendra Singh, Jal Shakti Minister also made a Tweet regarding it which reads “India’s moment of global glory as our Gross Domestic Product surpassed $4 Trillion. We are proud to say that the rise of #NewIndia under the leadership of PM @narendramodi ji is truly commendable and unparalleled.”

G Kishan Reddy, Cabinet Minister also made a post and stated that “A big congratulations As The GDP Touches $4 Trillion For The First Time and Marches Ahead. We are hoping that soon we will touch $5 Trillion under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Other ministers also expressed their happiness over the new achievement. However, we still need to wait for the official announcement from the side of the Finance Minister. Although highly placed sources state that the viral news was false and India was still in the same position. But many people are believing this news to be true as several ministers are expressing their happiness.

It is worth noting that India continued to be the fastest-growing major economy in the world with a GDP growth of 7.8% during the April–June 2023–2024 quarter, the highest in the previous four quarters, thanks to double-digit growth in the services sector. The GDP growth of 7.8 per cent in the June quarter is quite high as compared to the GDP growth of China in the same period. The GDP growth of China was reported to be 6.3 per cent. As per the National Statistical Office (NSO) data shared in August, the agriculture sector gross value added shared the news of the growth of 3.5 per cent. Let’s hope we will soon touch $5 Trillion.
