IndiGo's Parent Company to Introduce All-Electric Air Taxi Service in 2026

Indigo soon to launch Electric Air Taxi from Delhi To Gurugram

If we tell you that it will take only seven minutes to reach Gurugram from Delhi what will be your reaction? You all will surely feel blessed if it happens because traveling from Delhi to Gurugram is quite time-consuming, tiring and exhausting. To deal with this problem, InterGlobe Enterprises is all set to introduce an all electric air taxi service in India that will make your travel experience smooth without creating a fuss. According to the reports, Private carrier IndiGo’s parent company will start an all-electric air taxi service that will come into force in 2026.

This service will zip the passengers between Connaught Place in Delhi to Gurugram in Haryana in less time. As per the company, this taxi service will take hardly seven minutes to cover the distance but the fare will cost around Rs 2,000-3,000. According to Archer Aviation, the partner of InterGlobe, as of now, the fare for a 27-kilometer journey is around Rs 1,500. The route from Delhi to Gurugram is approximately 27 kilometers and takes 90 minutes which is quite exhausting for passengers but with the help of the air service, passengers will save their time and energy. This service will bring a revolutionary change in the aviation industry.

If we look at the space and load of the electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL), it will carry the pilot along with four passengers which means this taxi will have space for 5 people. Simply put in words, eVTOL is similar to choppers but functions differently in the context of safer alternatives and noise. As per a media outlet that shared the news on Friday, the partner of InterGlobe will supply around 200 eVTOL aircraft. During the media interaction, Adam Goldstein, the Founder and CEO of Archer Aviation stated that the company is currently in talks with the United States regulator Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the certification process for its aircraft is at an advanced stage.

As soon as the FAA gives the green flag in the form of a certificate, the next step is to get permission from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Once the FAA provides the certificate, the Indian regulator for aviation DGCA will begin the certification process. While talking about the launch of air service, Mr. Goldstein states that eVTOL services will begin in India in 2026. The company aims to provide 200 of its Midnight planes for operations. Besides, after Delhi, the services will be launched in megacities including Mumbai and Bengaluru.

Nikhil Goel, Chief Commercial Officer told the media outlet that the plane will have 6 battery packs and takes only 30-40 minutes to get fully charged. He further added that a 1-minute charge broadly translates to 1-minute of flight. Further details regarding the same are still under the cover. Archer Aviation will come into a joint venture with InterGlobe Enterprises to execute this plan. Last year, The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the same was signed by Archer Aviation with InterGlobe Enterprises. Furthermore, the US company is presently holding meetings with different municipalities regarding the operational and infrastructure aspects of flight operations.
