Cricket fans grab your popcorn bucket and get ready to witness the IPL 2024 First Match. The wait is finally over as the much-anticipated cricket tournaments are all set to entertain the spectators. The opening match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is scheduled between Chennai Super King (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). To increase the excitement of Cricket lovers, the schedule for the first 17 days of the upcoming matches was shared on Thursday, 22nd February 2024. The tournament will kick off on Friday, 22nd March 2024 in Chennai at Chepauk. Before talking about the opening match, let’s know the IPL Schedule 2024.
IPL 2024 Schedule Announced by BCCI
On Thursday, 22 Feb, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared the IPL 2024 schedule. As we already mentioned above, the event will commence with the opening match of CSK and RCB and the rest of the schedule has been shared by the BCCI. Currently, BCCI has shared the schedule of 21 matches and the rest of the matches’ schedule will be shared soon. The IPL Schedule 2024 discloses no matches will be played in Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In this regard, The Delhi Capitals have decided to play their initial two home games in Visakhapatnam.
The tournament will be prolonged for nearly two months and out of 10 teams, one will appear as the winner. The game playing of each team will decide the fate of the new champion of this season. In the richest cricket league in the world, 10 teams will lock horns against each other. Last year, the Chennai Super Kings lifted the trophy of IPL 2023 for the fifth time after winning the match against Gujarat Titans. For now, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the only teams who managed to bag the most of the IPL trophies.
Earlier, Arun Dhumal, IPL Chairman had announced the commencement date for the new season. Dhumal also made it clear that the 17th season of IPL will be played entirely in India despite the matches’ clashes with the Lok Sabha elections.
