Famous Ghazal Singer Pankaj Udhas Passes Away at 72

The music world is in extreme shock after learning the unfortunate death news of renowned Ghazal Singer “Pankaj Udhas”. The unfortunate death of famous ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas was officially confirmed by his family on Monday, 26th February 2024. He took his last breath at the age of 72. His family also shared the cause of his death. In an official statement, the family states “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhar on February 26, 2024, due to prolonged illness.”

According to the reports, the ghazal maestro left this world at 11 AM on Monday, 26 Feb at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. The reports further added that, a few months back, he was diagnosed with cancer and avoided public interaction. 

When Will Be The Last Rites Of Singer

The reports suggest that the funeral ceremony of the singer will be performed on Tuesday, 27th February 2024. The daughter of the late singer, Nayaab also confirmed the passing news of his father through her social media platforms. 

Social Media Flooded With Condolences Messages 

After hearing the unfortunate death news of the late Gazhal singer, many renowned personalities and fans expressed their sadness over social media. Singer Sonu Nigam made a sad post on Instagram while sharing the death news of the late Ghazal singer. He wrote that “One of the most important parts of my childhood is lost today. Shri Pankaj Udhas ji, I will miss you forever. My heart cries knowing that you are no more. Thank you for being there. Om Shanti.” 

Who Was Ghazal Maestro

The late singer was not just a name but synonymous with soulful ghazals. He captivated audiences for more than 40 years. He was born on 17th May 1951 in Jetpur, Gujarat, India, the musical journey of the late singer began at a very young age. He marked his debut in the music industry with the launch of his first Ghazal album titled “Aahat” in 1980. The late singer was not just a name but synonymous with soulful ghazals. He captivated audiences for more than 40 years. He gave many masterpieces in Bollywood. He even lent his voice to the iconic track titled “Chitthi Aayee Hai” for the movie “Naam”. 

In his career, Pankaj has released several albums and performed in numerous stages and live concerts. Due to his great effort in the Indian music industry, he was awarded with the fourth highest civilian award of India, the “Padma Shri”. Beyond his musical prowess, Pankaj was known for his humble and down-to-earth personality. His voice is unforgettable and left a deep remark in the heart of everyone ghazal lovers.
