The fever of the Indian Premier League 2024 has begun with the auction. People are getting keen to know which team has bid on which player and who has become the most expensive player of this season. This auction is being held abroad for the first time in Dubai at the Coca-Cola Arena as well as the fans witnessing the event live for the first time. Furthermore, the title of the most expensive player of this season is Mitchell Starc. 

 

The report states that the Australian pacer is now the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as Kolkata Knight Rider has bought him for Rs 24.75 crore. This bid was announced on Tuesday, 19th December 2023. Earlier, skipper Pat Cummins was the most expensive player in IPL history with a price of Rs20.50 crore. The bidding of Starc started with a huge bidding war and lasted for minutes with Delhi Capitals (DC), and Mumbai Indians (MI). After they backed out, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Gujarat Titans started the bid at a higher price and finally KKR won the bid. 

 

KKR spent around Rs. 24.75 crore to bring Starc in the team whereas Cummins was chosen by SRH for Rs. 20.5 crore. Apart from it, Indian pacers Shivam Mavi and Umesh Yadav were chosen by Lucknow SuperGiants and Gujarat Titans and both were picked on the amount of Rs 6.4 crore and Rs. 5.8 crore. CSK picked  Daryl Mitchell for Rs. 14 crore whereas PBKS bought Harshal Patel for Rs. 11.75 crore. In the second set, CSK picked Shardul Thakur for Rs. 4 crore and Rachin Ravindra for Rs. 1.8 crore. Powell was the first player who was purchased at the price of Rs.1 crore. 

 

Harry Brook, the player of England previously purchased by SRH for Rs. 13.25 crore but this time, Delhi Capitals bought him at the price of Rs 4 crore. In addition to this, Travis Head was chosen at the price of Rs 6.8 crore by Hyderabad. CSK made an unexpected move when they bought Sameer Rizvi at the price of Rs 8.40 crore. It is worth to say that the IPL 2024 auction that occurred in Dubai was an intense show which brought a huge bidding war, record-breaking deals and unexpected twists.

  • Rovman Powell bought by Rajasthan Royals at the price of Rs. 7.40 crore
  • Wanindu Hasaranga bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad at the whopping price of Rs. 1.50 crore
  • Gerald Coetzz bought by Mumbai Indians at the price of Rs. 5.00 crore
  • Tristan Stubbs bought by Delhi Capitals at the price of Rs. 50 lakh
  • Chetan Sakariya bought by Kolkata Knight Riders at the price of Rs. 50 lakh
  • Shivam Mavi bought by Lucknow SuperGiants at the price of 6.40 crore
