Each organ has its significance and function in the body. That is why it is essential to take care of yourself and eat healthy food. Despite that people often neglect their health and eat junk food which ultimately leaves a harmful impact on organs. Due to that, it is essential to make people aware of health issues and how to live a healthy life. In this regard, we are present here to talk about the golden rules to keep your kidney healthy in the wake of “World Kidney Day”. It is worth noting that the kidney performs two most important functions, firstly it removes the waste materials present in the body and secondly, it maintains the balance of electrolytes i.e. sodium and potassium in the body.

It is a global health awareness initiative introduced to make people aware of the need to focus on having healthy kidneys. We all know that the majority of people are suffering from kidney health issues and due to that it is essential to make people learn about how to keep their kidneys healthy. World Kidney Day was started in 2006 to focus on the importance of reducing kidney-related health issues and to make people aware of the new treatments that will be helpful to have healthy kidneys.

In addition to raising awareness of kidney-related issues, the day supports several policy initiatives that promote kidney health, such as funding kidney-related medical research to shed light on kidney diseases and lead to the development of new treatments, and universal access to high-quality healthcare that will enable early diagnosis and treatment.

When Was World Kidney Day Started To Celebrate?

As we mentioned above, World Kidney Day commenced for the first time in 2006. It was introduced with the collaboration of the International Federation of Kidney and the International Society of Nephrology Foundations. Worldkidneyday.org shared stats on their website where they mentioned that 850 million people from all over the world were suffering from chronic kidney diseases. Due to that more than 3.1 million deaths were reported in 2019.

At present, kidney-related problems rank as the 8th leading cause of fatality all over the globe. After monitoring the stats and rising fatalities, this initiative was introduced to spread awareness about kidney-related issues, accessibility of diagnosis and treatments, and early prevention. In the wake of World Kidney Day, several organisations, particularly those that work in the healthcare sector or wellness, held health camps and awareness campaigns.
