Visa Appoints Sujai Raina as India’s Country Manager

Sujai Raina is making the headlines in the news after being appointed as India’s Country Manager. The news of his appointment has been shared by the Digital payments platform ‘Visa’ on Tuesday, 7 April 2024. The Digital payments platform stated that Raina will take care of the India business. He will be responsible for leading and executing the strategic initiatives of Visa for the Indian market, partnering with clients and the payments ecosystem. In the official statement, Visa included that Sandeep Ghosh will continue to work as a  Group Country Manager for India and he will also look after the business in South Asia as well. 

As per the statement, he will look after the business in the Indian market as well as other markets in the subcontinent that includes, the Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan. Speaking of the role and responsibility of Raina as Indian country manager he will continue to take care of operations and lead business development for digital payments in India. Before appointing as a Country Manager, he fulfilled his responsibility in Visa as a Visa President and head of business development, in India. He became part of Visa in 2020 and since then he has been actively working. Under his guidance, Visa flourished in its operations in the Indian market. 

In a recent interview with a media outlet he talked about his plan as a Country Manager, he said “India’s growth trajectory, and the scale and sophistication of its payment systems, presents a significant opportunity for the continued growth of secure digital payments, driving cash displacement, financial inclusion and digital empowerment, at scale. I look forward to building on the strength of our brand and the trust we enjoy to power the next phase of Visa’s growth in India.”

Notably, Visa is the world’s second-largest card payment organisation that connects customers, businesses, banks and government, enabling them to use digital currency instead of cash or cheques. The main headquarters is in San Franciso, California. It is also considered one of the most valuable companies in the world. According to the statement, Visa views India as a crucial growth market and the appointment of Raina reflects the company’s dedication to the country and the opportunity it has for scaling digital payments through innovative solutions catered to its particular requirements.

It is worth noting that Visa cards are widely used in India and millions of Indians hold these cards for various transactions. 

Visa Joined Hands With MoneyHash

Besides the appointment of Raina as a Country Manager, the world’s second-largest card payment organisation joined hands with MoneyHash. The partnership came into effect to empower secure and enhanced digital payment experiences. The collaboration of the Middle East and Africa’s payments and revenue operations sector with Visa is officially shared on Wednesday, 8 April 2024. A post has been made on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the same which reads “We thrive to empower our partners with the tools and resources necessary to provide secure and seamless payment solutions.” 

Elena Panchenko, CPO of MoneyHash expressed her gratitude for partnering with Visa and said “Our collaboration with Visa marks a significant leap in our journey. It empowers our customers to enhance their payment infrastructure, ensuring secure, fast, and reliable payment experiences. This is especially crucial in today’s digital-first world, where payment security is paramount.”
