A lot of things have happened in the initial months of 2024. One such introduction is the rebranding of Apple ID into Apple Account. This new change is likely to be introduced along with the launch of iOS 18 in September. The announcement of this change is scheduled to be made at the World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June so that users get sufficient time to adjust or alter their apps before the swap takes place. The reason for this change is still unknown, but it is being said that the new name’s main objective is to drive the focus of the users towards the wide array of services Apple provides and to simplify the naming, as it is for Google Accounts.
The report regarding the rebranding was shared by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman who further added that this change would happen in the later part of 2024. Apple ID contains services such as iCloud and the App Store. The big joint is also fully dedicated to launching the iPhone 16 series in September of this year along with iOS 18.
Talking about the iOS 18 updates, the entire WWDC focuses to revolve around this new and important software update, which is only a few months away. While much hasn’t been disclosed about this yet, Apple CEO Tim Cook has subtly pointed out major hints related to Generation AI, which will come in some later part of this year.
About iOS 18
The iOS 18 is said to be a breakthrough in the realm of Apple’s innovations. It aims to present a VisionOS-inspired design featuring circular icons, with a focus on features dedicated to Artificial Intelligence associated with the main apps of Apple.
As compared to the previous iOS 16 and iOS 17, the newer version of iOS is much more advanced. The earlier ones came with minimal updates, while iOS 18 has been equipped with visual changes in it. With a lot more exciting features in store, the iOS 18 version is set to revolutionize the user experience and add value to it. As per some reports, this version has been internally named ‘Crystal’ and its unfolding has begun in full swing. The iOS 18 will be widely available across all Apple devices such as Apple Watch, Mac, Apple TV, etc.
Amongst new features that users may expect to see, customization features will also be there along with an updated control center. Like the Galaxy S24 series iPhones may not only represent AI features. But Apple has also planned to introduce AI capabilities into the pre-existing apps and services. In addition to this, a ‘hearing aid’ mode will also be introduced into the AirPods Pro by iOS 18 which is said to convert the Bluetooth device into a hearing aid, enhancing its audio receiving capabilities. However, the device may not be officially called a hearing mode aid as it requires FDA certification for the same.
iPhones launched on or after iPhone 11 are likely to be supported by the iOS 18 update. These include all the advanced versions of iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone SE (3rd Gen), iPhone 14, and iPhone 15.
